GETTER is a group backed by the Japanese government in order to combat the Idea. Formed from survivors of the outbreak, the group houses the only means of combating the Idea, Anti-Getter Rays.

GETTER's main weapon against the Idea is the Getter Robo, a machine powered by Anti-Getter Rays. As the Idea were mutated from a Getter Ray outbreak, the Anti-Getter Ray powered weapons of the Getter Robo are able to bypass the regenerative and adaptive abilities of the Idea. Each major member was in some affected by the Idea outbreak with their lives dedicated to ending the threat.
